JABA Impact Table

Citation Performance of JABA and 24 Other Journals

A journal's influence can be partially assessed by examining how often the papers it published are cited. The table presents citation data for JABA plus 24 other journals, including most that cite or are cited by JABA frequently. The data are given in three ways for each of two measures, Times Cited and the Impact Factor: as raw scores, as ranks within the relevant Social Science Citation Index databases (1,382 journals for Times cited, 1,370 for the Impact factor), and as percentile scores for those ranks. Times cited is a cumulation of the number of times that articles from a particular journal have been cited during a year.
Impact factor measures citations per published article and therefore tries to diminish the influence of journal size. It is the ratio of the citations to the number of citable articles published, and is usually based on the frequency with which articles that appeared in the immediately prior two years have been cited during a particular year (e.g., total citations during 1988 to articles published in the journal during 1986 and 1987, divided by the number of articles the journal published during 1986 and 1987.
